We re-opened our Visitor Center this weekend with what felt like a race!  Seems everyone has had enough of winter, and is starting to THINK SPRING!!  Visitors were eager to see "what's new" - and we have plenty to show them!  We took four (yes, count them - 4) new reservations in just 2 days, which tells us we'll have a very HOT spring and summer!!  If you've been waiting on the sidelines, maybe it's time to "get in the race" and make the best decision of your life.  We still have beautiful locations available - something for everyone - whether you want to be "right in the mix", or off in a quieter location. 

As my dad used to say - "Make hay while the sun shines!!"

Worse than teenagers ... you can't keep them apart!!

Our Summer Village friends are YEAR-ROUND friends!  This handsome group got together recently for dinner at "Scupper Jack's".  I heard there's also a group of Summer Villagers off on a Caribbean cruise! 

Everyone is ready to welcome SPRING - SUNSHINE - and each other, back to Summer Village!! 

Our Visitor Center re-opens this weekend for tours - stop in any Friday through Monday, noon to 4 p.m. See how "grown up" we are! 

The Lodge - Taking Shape!

Lee and I visited The Lodge today to check on the progress.  It really is taking shape - especially with the plastering done, and the "barnboard" going up.  For instance, you can now differentiate the dining room from the bar/lounge/billiards room.  You can visualize yourself sitting near the fireplace; or enjoying a cool drink on the porch.  We know photos don't do it justice, but it's all I have for now!  Can't wait until spring, when everyone can check it out for themselves!!  We re-open the sales center next weekend ... the phones are ringing, we have appointments, and we're rarin' to go!  Stop by and see us for a tour - but no peeking allowed at The Lodge until mid-April!!  (Kinda like a birthday - you have to wait!!  The anticipation ... then the realization!! It builds character!)

2 weeks to go for sales to begin ...11 weeks to go for the FUN to begin again!

Our residents were treated to a mid-winter get together today, planned by our Recreation Director and hosted by the Developers.  Nearly 175 "old" and "new" residents were excited to see each other, reminiscing about past seasons and anticipating the upcoming season!!  Our new restaurant operator (for The Lodge, which opens in mid-April) catered the event and was on hand with his manager to meet everyone.  Also, our new General Manager was introduced, and was overheard commenting on what a great group of people we have living at Summer Village!!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKJ_9f6qJc4

Our sales office re-opens in 2 weeks, on Saturday, February 13th, and the phones have already started ringing.  We expect to have another great year of sales, with the completion of The Lodge, and the opening of new areas for sale.  We can hardly wait for the warm weather to arrive!!  Only 11 more weeks until our 2010 season begins, and our residents are counting the days!!  THINK SPRING, and in the meantime, all the best, all the time!!  Roberta

 

We can't wait!!

All of our amenities were completed "up front" at Summer Village - EXCEPT The Lodge, which will be our adult gathering place.  Because this will house our bar-grille type restaurant (as well as computer room, billiards room, etc.), we felt we needed to be at least half way sold out in order to sustain the business of a restaurant.  We're there!!  And the work is well under way on the interior of The Lodge.  It is scheduled to be finished by mid-March, and The Lodge will be opening (in its entirety!) on "Opening Weekend" in mid-April!!  We hope you'll stop by in the spring and check it out!  All the best,  Roberta 

 

Fun in the sun?

You heard it on the news ... last weekend, the temperatures in Florida reached record lows.  But Howard Hall and his crack team warmed things up at The Villages, when we "entertained" nearly 100 people who showed up for our first-ever "Florida Road Show".  It's always fun to talk about "summer the way it used to be" - and we were pleased that a couple of residents from each of our seasonal cottage Villages attended, eager to share their view of why they believe their decision to "summer" at Summer Village was one of the best decisions of their lives. 

If you wanted to attend but missed it, please watch for news of two (2) upcoming road shows in Florida - one scheduled for the end of February, and one for the end of March!  In the meantime, I'll also be sharing news about our new Lodge, opening in April and featuring a pub-grille type restaurant, computer room, billiards room, beautiful lounge, and much more.  We're very excited about it, as it will add a whole new dimension to the "fun" at Summer Village!
